Frequently Asked Questions

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy in my sessions can be thought as a collaborative journey between you & I. It's a brave, non-judgemental & confidential space where you get to explore your thoughts, emotions & anything else that your body & mind desires. Through a person-centered lens, and various therapeutic techniques, such as ACT, IFS, DBT, narrative techniques, we get to work together to enhance self-awareness, foster personal growth, and navigate life's challenges.

How can I tell if you are the right therapist for me?

Each therapist will have their own unique qualities and characteristics. I welcome folks who are looking for a compassionate, warm, empathetic, culturally sensitive, LGBTQ2IA+ affirming, intersectional feminist therapist who is committed to providing ethical and effective mental health care.

Are your services covered by OHIP?

Unfortunately psychotherapy services in Ontario are not covered by OHIP. The payments are required to be paid via e-transfer or secure credit card payment, after which a receipt will be provided to be submitted to personal insurance. I do not provide direct billing to insurance companies.

What happens in the 15-min complimentary consultation?

The 15-minute free consultation is our opportunity to chat about what brings you to therapy and what you are looking for. It is also your chance to ask me any questions you may have. Essentially, you are welcome to interview me and inquire wether I am the right psychotherapist for you.

What populations do you specialize supporting?

As a queer, immigrant, bi-cultural mama & survivors of sorts, I immensely enjoy serving folks with diverse backgrounds & experiences. In Relationship Therapy, my approach is particularly attuned to supporting BIPOC and/or Queer partners who are navigating the intricacies of beautiful intersections of identities. Within Individual Therapy, I offer compassionate space for both new & seasoned parents, placing emphasis on the unique experiences of BIPOC, Queer, and bi-cultural families as they navigate the intersections of identities.

How do I know if I am ready for therapy?

Therapy can be intimidating... at first. You have made it to this page for a reason. Whether this is your first time approaching therapy or another shot at counseling, I welcome you to explore the yearning that is already there. Only you will be able to determine if this is the right time for you. You are the expert & I trust that you will make the right decision for you.

Are virtual or online therapy sessions available?

Yes, I offer virtual therapy sessions through a secure online platform, providing a flexible & accessible option for individuals & partners residing in Ontario, Canada. This allows clients to receive support from the comfort of their own space.

Can you explain the cost for session?

The session fee covers various aspects of the therapeutic process including:time dedicated to your session, session preparation, & any follow-up work (invoices, progress notes, upcoming session preparation). Additionally, it accounts for ongoing professional development (supervision, continued education) to ensure the highest level of care & expertise. The inclusion of HST aligns with regulatory requirements, contributing to transparent & ethical financial practices in my therapeutic services.
